Cybersecurity Context Before Practice

All cybersecurity best practices are dependent upon the context in which they are used; therefore, it is essential to ensure all involved stakeholders have a clear understanding of the context of a situation before they react to a situation. For instance, that guy wearing a mask while holding a firearm in one hand and a woman in the other, is he a cop pulling a victim out of the line of fire or a bank robber holding a hostage? Did the file server randomly restart because of a misconfigured update setting or because an attacker is using a reboot exploit? Cyberscurity is dependent on properly implementing controls and controls cannot be properly implemented if context is not taken into consideration.
